I received a Bachelor's degree in English from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH in 2007. I had enjoyed college so much that I immediately applied to the Master's program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I received a Master's degree in English in 2009. While teaching as an adjunct at Chattanooga State, I decided that I wanted to go into teaching full-time, so I decided to apply to UTC again in the Education department. In 2013, I received a Master's degree in Education with a focus on Secondary English. I am also certified in English to Speakers of Other Languages.

I taught at Chattanooga State as an adjunct for two years. While I was there, I taught both Composition 1 and Learning Support Writing. I also tutored in the Writing Center. Once I had finished the certification process, I got a job at The Howard School. I taught there for three years and had the chance to work with some really fantastic teachers and students. Then, I was hired here at Loftis Middle. I am really looking forward to being part of the team here!

I grew up here in Chattanooga, just down the road in Hixson. I left the South for a few years to complete a Bachelor's degree in English but then came back home because it was too cold up North! I began my teaching career with slightly older students at Chattanooga State and decided I wanted to go into teaching full-time. I taught 10th grade English for three years. While I enjoyed teaching high school, I am excited to be working here at Loftis, helping to prepare students for their futures!
