Subjects Taught
Language Arts/Reading

I graduated in 2010 from Florida State University (Goooo Noles!) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology coupled with a certification in Child Development. Shortly after, I completed Hillsborough County's Alternative Certification Program to earn my teaching license.

I am licensed in Florida as Middle Grades Integrative Curriculum 5-9, English 6-12, Reading Endorsement, and ESOL endorsement*. In Tennessee, I am certified in Elementary Grades K-5*, English 6-12, and Middle Grades 4-8.

*Qualify for endorsement/certification but not officially added to state license.

Upon graduation, I moved into a full-time position at a group foster home, managing the needs of multiple children who were taken from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. My time there gave me a unique perspective on what can truly make a difference in a child's life; education, and someone who cares.

I began my teaching career in Tampa, Florida in 2011 as the In School Suspension and Detention coordinator at Orange Grove Magnet Middle, where I also provided small-group support for students struggling in reading. Since then, I've been teaching a variety of levels of reading and language arts.

I began teaching at Loftis in August 2016.
