Education

I attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees.  I have a B.S. in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration, and a M.Ed. in Secondary Education - History, Geography, and Government.  I also have an undeclared minor in History.

Some of my College Activities: Chi Omega Fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha Little Crescent, Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honors Society) President, and Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honors Society)

Experience

Upon graduating from college, I went to work for United States Senator Jim Sasser. This gives me a unique perspective on American History and Government, which I enjoy sharing with students in the classroom. When the Senator lost his reelection bid, I went to work as a legal assistant in the Law Department of CIGNA HealthCare. My position was transferred to the corporate office in Connecticut, which provided me with the opportunity to return to school and obtain my master's degree in education.  I began teaching at Brown Middle School and then transferred to Loftis Middle School in 2008. I have always taught 8th grade American History. I LOVE my subject area and this age group of students!

Bio

I am a widow with one child. My son is in graduate school working toward a MBA degree. My mom was a public school teacher, so I grew up in an education-centered household. I have always been passionate about social studies and can even remember watching the political conventions as a very young child.
