Experience

I began my teaching career in Warren County, TN as  part time high school social studies teacher and then as an elementary teachers assistant in a special education classroom. From there I moved to Chattanooga, TN where I accepted my first full time classroom teaching position at a small private school. Here I taught elementary and middle school social studies for two years.

In 2003, I accepted a position with HCDE at the Dawn School where I spent the next 14 years. While at the Dawn School I taught Geography, Physical Science, Algebra, Geometry, Basic Math, Personal Finance, Computers, computer based coursework(Edgenuity, etc), Transition, Work Based Learning, Life Skills and Social Skills. I also spent many years serving on the school leadership team where I assisted the school coordinator in many facets of the daily operation of the school. For many years I acted as the school technology coordinator. In this capacity I maintained all of the school computer assets, acquired additional computer equipment through various grants, and trained staff on the implementation of technology in their classrooms.

After much thought and consideration I made the difficult decision to leave Dawn School and in August of 2017 I began work at Loftis Middle School where I am currently working as the 8th Grade Exceptional Education teacher.  I look forward to what lies ahead in this new adventure.
